CBS Found a Genius Way to Replace the ACMs Now That They've Been Postponed

From Country Living

  • The 2020 ACM Awards have been postponed due to coronavirus.

  • The Academy of Country Music and CBS have teamed up to air a new special on the original date this April.

  • Here's what to know about ACM Presents: Our Country.

We look forward to the ACM Awards every year. The annual event gathers all of country music’s finest in one room, which always results in wild outfits, hilarious jokes, and a shady moment or two.

But this year, the ACMs have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. They were originally scheduled to air from Las Vegas on April 5, but have now moved to September. Keith Urban will reportedly still host, which we’re only more excited for now that we’ve seen his at-home concerts.

Obviously the news comes as a disappointment. Knowing that, the Academy of Country Music and CBS concocted a way for all of us to still get our country fix without asking people to leave their homes.

CBS will air a two-hour special called ACM Presents: Our Country at 8 p.m. EST on April 5. According to a post on Instagram, we can expect “intimate conversations and at-home acoustic performances with top country artists.” Clips from ACMs’ past will also be included.

Considering how much we’ve loved watching Keith and his fellow stars like Brad Paisley put on virtual shows lately, we think this is going to turn into quite the affair.

While it won’t be the same as watching Miranda Lambert hit the red carpet with her husband, or listening to Carrie Underwood belt out her latest hit, we think this is a pretty good substitute. Plus we’ll be in bed by 10 p.m.—so we’re all winners there!
