CDL makes two senior appointments

Following in the footsteps of their fathers, the sons of CDL's chiefs have joined the developer's senior management team, media reports said.

38-year-old Sherman Kwek (pictured), the son of Executive Chairman Kwek Leng Beng, was appointed as Chief Investment Officer on Tuesday. His job will be to expand CDL's overseas portfolio, speed up its investment programmes and improve external operations.

At the same time, the younger Kwek will also retain his current positions as Chief Executive Officer of CDL China and City e-Solutions, a unit listed on the Hong Kong Exchange.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman Kwek Leng Joo's son, Kwek Eik Sheng (32), was named the company's Chief Strategy Officer. He will look to analyse investments and help craft business strategies.

These new appointments "will help bring fresh perspectives to our business. They also bring to the table a new level of dynamism and long-term commitment of the Kwek family name, which is a strong credential that will advantage us as we go overseas in earnest," said CDL's CEO Grant Kelly.
