Kate Moss lived up to her supermodel name as she led the arrivals on the star-studded red carpet for the annual WSJ Innovator Awards on Wednesday night.

Moss, 48, paid homage to the Nineties sheer dress trend – which she arguably was the catalyst for, if not an early adopter – in a see-through olive green gown which showed her black underwear and runway-worthy figure beneath.

The new take on the ‘naked dress’ featured a triangular cutout at the midriff, as well as ruched detailing at the bust that reached into a halter-neck style.

The model upped the ante with accessories, opting for statement diamond earrings, a long chain necklace with an amber pendant, chunky black bangles, a silver chainmail arm cuff and chunky black platform boots.

So far, so normal. Supermodel stuns on the red carpet. But look at Moss' high top-knot and you’ll see a new trend emerging: the hooded gown.

The sheer material of her Saint Laurent gown gathered from the halter-style neckline into a delicate hood, which sat on Moss’ high bun with ease.

Fellow model Amber Valletta also wore a similarly draped goddess gown by Saint Laurent, whose creative director partied alongside his two model muses throughout the evening.

Elsewhere, Rihanna defied all expectations of a cocooned maternity wardrobe when she stepped out in an Alaïa red wrap coat, complete with structured hood, in February this year.

Since, the likes of Katie Holmes, Michaela Coel and Olivia Wilde have all adopted the trend on the red carpet, and who could forget Janelle Monáe’s glittering hooded Met Gala looks in both 2020 and 2022.

Moss usually approaches modern trends with a veteran insouciance, instead sticking to her unique blend of rock n roll and glamour, but now the fashion muse has sported the haute hood micro trend, who knows how far it will go?
