'Chaos' as Hong Kong Police Storm University Campus After Night-Long Clashes

Police stormed the campus of Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the early morning of November 18 after an overnight standoff with protesters holed up in the building.

Several hundred demonstrators held out in the campus despite being told to leave on Sunday, according to reports.

Major fires burned around the university’s entrances as police fired tear gas and water cannons in an attempt to disrupt protesters, who have occupied the facility for days.

Jack Lapham, who filmed this video, described the scene as “chaos” as it unfolded.

The South China Morning Post reported that the normally serene neighbourhood around the Polytechnic University campus had been turned into a “war zone.”
