Chatri Sityodtong Selects ‘Apprentice’ Finalists

·2-min read

ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong has spent the last two months carefully narrowing down the list of 16 global candidates on “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition.”

And in Episode 11, Chatri made another big move by eliminating two of the final four following a business challenge that saw each candidate work alongside Singaporean NGOs.

Jessica Ramella and Louie Sangalang were paired with LOVE, NILS, a charity that offers help to families of children stricken with cancer.

Irina Chadsey and Monica Millington worked with Habit for Humanity Singapore, a nonprofit that builds homes for the less fortunate.

All four candidates shined in the business challenge, but Jessica and Louie surpassed their associates with an emotional and well-planned strategy that proposed LOVE, NILS incorporate Twilio’s technology to connect with donors.

The pitch didn’t just win over Chatri and Co-Advisor Niharika Singh, but it also swayed Twilio’s Founder and CEO, Jeff Lawson.

With that, Irina and Monica were sent home, leaving Jessica and Louie as the final two candidates. The pair will now go head-to-head in a battle to secure the one year, US$250,000 job offer to work as Chatri’s Chief Of Staff.

It’s uncertain what challenges lie ahead, but let’s recap some of Jessica’s and Louie’s shining moments.

Jessica’s Boardroom Defense

In Episode 5, former candidate Kexin Ye accused Jessica of not holding her own on Team Conquest during the business challenge.

The Venezuelan immediately defended herself, letting Chatri and Niharika know that she had done most of the work for the team.

It was the first time Jessica broke out of her shell on the show, and it really left an impression on Chatri.

Louie’s Strategic Thinking

Louie showed his business acumen in Episode 7, as he strategically let former candidate Eugene Chung take the role of Project Manager for Team Valor.

It was a bold move for Louie, because if their team had won the business challenge, it would’ve made Eugene look great in the eyes of Chatri – especially after the Korean-American defeated former candidate Niraj Puran Rao in the grappling challenge during that episode.

But Team Valor didn’t win, and Eugene was sent to the chopping block and subsequently axed from the show, leaving Louie one step closer to the ultimate prize.

Catch Episode 12 of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” on AXN next Thursday, 3 June, at 8:50 p.m. SGT.
