Check out the 7 sizzling startups that pitched at Asia Hardware Battle 2018’s Singapore City Pitching

The startups were building smart hardware such as indoor air sensors and smart locks

Stakeholders and enthusiasts from the Singapore’s hardware tech community convened at JTC Launchpad @ Jurong Innovation District on the afternoon of September 21, 2018 for TechNode’s Asia Hardware Battle 2018: Singapore City Pitching.

In this event, 7 selected startups had 4 minutes to pitch, and a 7-minute Q&A with a panel of judges that comprised of

  • Kelvin Ong, CEO, Focustech Ventures

  • Derrick Yap, CEO, PBA Group

  • Dr. Huang Zhiqiang, IP Strategist, IP Valuelab

  • Chirayu Wadke, IoT & Connected Devices, Seedplus

After a 20 minute deliberation amongst the judging panel, cleantech startup EcoWorth emerged as the winner. They scored a fully-paid roundtrip to Shanghai for the grand finals in October. while QiQ Global and igloohome emerged as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.

All 3 startups will also gain access to the e27 Academy 2018 on 28 – 30 November — a 3 day programme designed to empower early-stage tech startup founders with insights and connections to build and grow their businesses.

Here are the 7 startups that pitched.

EcoWorth

EcoWorth Tech (EWT) wants to transform waste materials into reusable products while delivering social & environmental benefits. It has co-developed a proprietary Carbon Fibre Aerogel technology that with the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. EWT has been seeded with US$1 million in funding and are looking aiming for commercial launch by end 2019.

Igloohome

Igloohome is a secure access management platform for smart infrastructure and properties. Its smart mortise lock, smart deadbolt and smart keybox allows home and property owners to grant access to visitors remotely, without WiFi, via cryptography and time synchronisation. Igloohome has achieved a 4x YoY growth since 2016 and raised a US$5 million Series A round earlier this year with Insignia Ventures, Wavemaker Partners, and Singtel Innov8.

OCEO

OCEO is an intelligent, sustainable and cost-effective way to solve drinking water crises. Its smart water purifier and smart sensor innovation is designed to measure, monitor and maintain safe drinking water at all times.

QIQ Global

QIQ (“Quick”) is about reimagining transportation — making shared transportation greener and more accessible to the masses. Coupled with clear trends of increasing population growth and urban migration, QIQ aims to relieve the overburdened public transport systems of cities worldwide by creating its own ecosystem of green and shared vehicles.

Standcraft

Standcraft wants to be the go-to provider for intimate built environment spaces. It aims to transform the future of spaces by replacing traditional architecture with temporal experiences and responsive structures. The BirdCage, a rest pavilion for retail and public spaces, won the URA-REDAS Spark Challenge 2018.

Laser TAGRider

Laser TAGRider is an attachment that easily mounts onto any NERF, BOOMco, and other toy blasters to re-purpose them for laser tag games. Ongoing applications include first persion shooter games, gamified learning, and the team is currently servicing a mixed reality & virtual reality project with a local law enforcement entity.

uHoo

uHoo is an indoor air sensor that monitors analyses and provides you with insights and solutions in real time. It measures 9 air quality parameters – temperature, humidity, PM2.5, carbon dioxide, ozone, and air pressure.

Asia Hardware Battle (AHB) will be touring 10 countries and regions all across Asia in search of the next hardware superstar. AHB realises that hardware’s central role in powering devices, small and large, is often overlooked. AHB now wants to shine the spotlight on entrepreneurs who are doing their best to improve the tech that fuels our daily lives and give them the recognition they deserve.

This event will bring together 300 business projects and startups spanning China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, India, and Malaysia. It will also be a place where corporates gather to seek out talents from the ground. The general layout of this event will be: Online Registration, City Pitching, Preparation, and The Grand Finals.
