Bayer Leverkusen insist that Chelsea cannot expect a coronavirus discount on Kai Havertz's transfer fee.

Standard Sport understands that Havertz is a key summer target for Chelsea, with the 21-year-old also interested in moving to Stamford Bridge.

The Germany international has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season, and remains in action with Leverkusen after the Bundesliga side qualified for the Europa League quarter-finals.

Leverkusen have stated that Havertz will remain with them at least until the end of the tournament, though the Germans face a tough quarter-final against Inter Milan on Monday.

Should Leverkusen exit to Inter, then Havertz's future will be back on the table - and Chelsea are hoping to complete a deal for around £70million.

However, Leverkusen's club's director, Rudi Voller, has warned Chelsea that they will not get a better deal due to the financial impact of Covid-19 on the transfer market.

"Havertz? We know that Chelsea are strongly interested in him - but we’ll not sell any player before the end of the Europa League," Voller told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"If Chelsea want to sign Kai, they must pay what we ask. No lower price because of Covid."

Havertz has not openly confirmed he wants a move to Chelsea, but he has made no secret of his desires on social media.

Havertz 'liked' an Instagram image of new Chelsea signing and compatriot Timo Werner arriving at London Biggin Hill Airport in Kent to watch the Blues on the final day of the Premier League season last month.
