Investigators are said to be looking into any “relevant history“ surrounding the events that happened leading up to the news that Angelina had filed from divorce from the 52-year-old actor after an alleged altercation on a private plane between Brad and their eldest son Maddox.

The reported incident on the plane - where Brad is alleged to have gotten “verbally abusive” and “physical” with his son while under the influence of alcohol - occurred on September 14 and Angelina filed for divorce just days later.

TMZ reports the “DCFS has now expanded its investigation to other alleged incidents” and referring to the extension of the investigation, a legal source told PEOPLE: “They are looking at the original inciting incident and anything surrounding that, and looking at any relevant history.”

Angelina was granted custody of Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne and they were previously interviewed by child services about the row and it was later claimed by witnesses that Maddox suffered no injuries.

Meanwhile, other experts said the investigation being continued is standard procedure.

Another legal source added: “Things remain in a holding pattern at this point and are ideally nearing a conclusion. This investigation has always been and continues to be open-ended.

"People have erroneously made the assumption that the original October 20 date of the agreement between the two parties was also in some way a deadline for DCFS, and that is simply not the case.

"The parties reached an initial agreement and standard operating procedure is that a DCFS investigation is open-ended; DCFS is under no deadline and there is no delay here, simply a continuation of an ongoing process.”

Brad reportedly only learning that his wife was planning on divorcing him on Monday - just 24 hours before the rest of the world. The Hollywood actress cited “irreconcilable differences” on her divorce papers and is not seeking spousal support.
