Feud with Ongpaucos derailing Escudero's 2016 campaign?

Make peace with the Ongpaucos.
This is the advice that fellow candidates from administration slate Team PNoy gave Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who has been under scrutiny over his feud with his girlfriend Heart Evangelista’s family.

Former censors chief Grace Poe is confident Escudero, who has been placing second in senatorial surveys, has the charms to patch things up with Rey and Cecille Ongpauco.
“I have not known him to be disrespectful especially to parents. Chiz is very kind and thoughtful when it comes to his mother,” Poe told reporters.
“I knew him to be a very good friend and reliable in times of need. When my dad passed away, he became a brother to me even though we are of the same age,” she added.
Escudero, the god son of the Poe’s father Fernando Poe Jr., is also close to actress Susan Roces.
The re-electionist senator has been helping Poe improve her performance in senatorial surveys by bringing her along in his individual campaign sorties.
Former Las Pinas Rep. Cynthia Villar also encouraged Escudero to make peace with Evangelista’s parents as she describes the incumbent senator to be family-oriented.
Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara attested that he has never seen Escudero acting rude around colleagues and friends, particularly women.

In a separate interview, Angara believes politics has been fuelling the word war between Escudero and the Ongpaucos.
“Senator Chiz is a frontrunner in the surveys. Of course, some would want to derail his chances (by coming up with controversies),” Angara said.
Angara explained that the May 2013 midterm poll is a prelude to 2016 presidential elections where Vice President Jejomar Binay and Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada are expected to team up for the top race.
He added that the Escudero-Ongpauco spat could may well be part of “the process of elimination” for potential presidential and vice presidential candidates for 2016 presidential elections.

“Definitely, the senatorial elections of 2013 is just a front act for the main event in 2016… Of course, we cannot disregard these kinds of intramural in a game like politics,” he noted.
