Chris Hemsworth’s Thor almost had a radically different look in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Concept art for the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok, which was directed by Taika Waititi, reveals that the God of Thunder was in the the process of undergoing a huge change from how he appeared in previous Marvel films, including Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Billed by some as a “soft reboot” with a different tone to what had come before, Thor: Ragnarok saw Hemsworth’s character with a shorter haircut than fans were used to.

Now, Andy Park – Marvel Studios’ director of visual development – has shown that the haircut was originally even shorter after posting the art on his Instagram page, calling it “the extreme end of the spectrum”.

Thor had long hair once again in Avengers: Endgame.

It was recently highlighted that The Dark World, commonly referred to as one of the MCU’s weaker films, may have laid the groundwork for the arrival of the X-Men with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it piece of writing on Dr Erik Selvig’s (Stellan Skarsgård) blackboard.

Meanwhile, Chris Evans recently shed light on whether he’d return as Captain America after his swansong in 2019 blockbuster Endgame.

Hemsworth was most recently see in Extraction, which has become one of Netfrlix’s most successful films.
