Chris Wallace Explains Why Trump Debate Flop 'Just As Devastating' As Biden Collapse
CNN’s Chris Wallace on Tuesday suggested that former President and current GOP nominee Donald Trump’s panned presidential debate performance against his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, echoed the collapse of Joe Biden in the Trump-Biden debate in June which ultimately led the president to nix his bid to win back the White House.
“I didn’t think I was ever going to witness a debate as devastating as the one that you and Dana moderated back in June, where Joe Biden basically tanked his reelection campaign,” Wallace told colleague Jake Tapper on Tuesday.
Tapper and Dana Bash hosted the Biden-Trump debate in June.
“I think tonight was just as devastating,” Wallace continued.
Harris “pitched a shutout on almost every subject I can think of,” he said, citing the vice president’s comments on abortion, the Jan. 6 insurrection by Trump supporters and democracy.
Wallace also paid tribute to how Harris “very powerfully” highlighted she is “the candidate of change and we need to turn the page from a decade of division and polarization.”
