Chrissy Teigen has opened up about the "scary" experience of being admitted to hospital following consistent bleeding during pregnancy. The Cravings cookbook author, who already shares two children with her husband John Legend, is currently halfway through her pregnancy with the couple's third child, a baby boy.

Talking on Instagram stories today, Chrissy explained the concerning symptoms she's been suffering that led up to her being admitted to hospital. "I was always, always bleeding. I'm about halfway through pregnancy and the blood has been going on for like a month," she said. The bleeding was "more than your period" and "definitely not spotting" Chrissy explained, noting that it's quite common for expectant mothers to experience spotting during pregnancy, and usually everything is all fine.

"But mine was a lot," Chrissy continued. "Every time I would go to the bathroom [there] would be blood... but today the big difference was that it was kind of like if you were to just turn a faucet on low and just leave it there."

Discovering a 'tap of blood' emerging from you during pregnancy would no doubt be a very scary thing, and that's exactly why the mum-of-two ended up in hospital. Chrissy shared with her followers that she had been on bed rest for a few weeks due to the bleeding anyway, describing it as "super serious bed rest, like [I can] get up to quickly pee and that's it. I can take baths like twice a week... no showering."

But following the switch to intense bleeding, the couple decided to seek urgent medical help. "It was at the point today where it was never stopping bleeding, and that's obviously very bad," Chrissy said, adding that "It's so weird because I feel really good. I'm usually at my happiest pregnant, mood wise I feel happier than I do not pregnant, and that's why it's so hard for me to come to terms with," she said on Instagram Stories.

The cause of the bleeding is "in the simplest of terms," the fact that Chrissy has a "really, really weak placenta". Despite this, the expectant mother said her baby is "so healthy" and stronger even at this stage than her other two children, Luna and Miles, were. "He moves a lot, he moved so much earlier than they ever did," shared Chrissy Teigen. "But basically, he is the strongest, coolest dude in, like, the shittiest house. His house is falling apart," she said, continuing the analogy of her uterus being his house.

Understandably, Chrissy and John have found the pregnancy complications difficult to deal with. "It's just hard because there's not much you can do," she opened up. "Basically, if I can make it through the next few weeks - if [my] little boy can make it through the next few weeks - then we can go from there and be able to get out of the danger zone," she shared honestly. "But we have to get through this first, and so, yeah, it is scary," Chrissy admitted.

Never one to shy away from sharing intimate and personal details - health-related or otherwise - with her followers, Chrissy said the most frustrating she's experienced as a result of her openness is an eagerness to diagnose what's going on. "I've seen a lot of it," she said. Reassuring her fans, she added: "You have to trust me that I have very good doctors who know what they're doing, they know the entire story. There's so much more than you guys could ever ever imagine. I share a lot but not absolutely everything, so trust me when I say they know."

Here's hoping Chrissy can get through the rest of her pregnancy remaining happy and healthy, and that in another four or five months, she and John will be welcoming a third, adorable little baby Legend to the clan.
