In much of the Western world, it's hard to ignore when Christmas is approaching. Stores install greenery and ornaments weeks in advance, twinkly lights are strung up on houses and in the trees, and Mariah Carey takes over the radio. Christmas is December 25, and even those outside the Christian faith often get the day off from work, as it is a bank holiday in the United States.

Still, the specific day of the week when Christmas falls in a given year can alter your work schedule for the holidays, as well as your travel plans (which still may be complicated due to the constraints of the pandemic). In 2021, Christmas Eve is on Friday, December 24, and Christmas Day is Saturday, December 25. If you look forward to getting extra days off for the holiday to go home or plan a vacation, then it might be a bit of a bummer to hear that the holiday falls on a weekend this year. But if your office shuts down the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve, you can still look forward to that—and even though many folks around the country haven't returned to their traditional offices since the arrival of COVID-19, a break from Zoom is always appreciated!
