Clarkson Speaks Out Over Top Gear Scandal

Jeremy Clarkson has spoken about his high-profile sacking as presenter of the BBC's Top Gear.

In his column in Saturday's Sun newspaper, Clarkson admitted he would "miss" presenting the show.

"Heartfelt thanks to all those who have written to say how much they will miss me on Top Gear," he wrote.

"It's not as much, however, as I'll miss being there."

Until now, Clarkson has not spoken publicly about being dropped from the show, except to say that "everybody's upset".

The BBC dropped the presenter from the show last month after an internal investigation found a "line had been crossed" during his "fracas" with Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon at a North Yorkshire hotel.

Mr Tymon had to drive himself to hospital after Clarkson left him with a split lip.

Clarkson received widespread public support in the wake of the incident - one million people signed a petition calling for the BBC to reinstate him.

The outspoken presenter has since pulled out of his planned appearance hosting BBC satirical show Have I Got News For You, which was due to be filmed next week, and aired a day later.

It would have been his first BBC appearance since the scandal erupted.
