Clint Eastwood to helm Jessica Buchanan biopic

Director Clint Eastwood

Iconic US director Clint Eastwood is reportedly eyeing the story of kidnapped American aid worker Jessica Buchanan for his next film, following the success of "Sully" and "American Sniper".

The movie, to be based on memoirs written by Buchanan, her husband Erik Landemalm, and Anthony Flacco, will retell Buchanan's ordeal after she and a colleague were kidnapped by Somali pirates and held hostage for 93 days, before being rescued by a Navy SEAL team in 2012.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. has optioned the book titled "Impossible Odds", with Brian Helgeland attached to write the film script, and Greg Silverman and Julia Spiro to oversee the project for Warners.

Flacco and Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management are also on board, acting as Associate Producers.
