Bringing up a child is a herculean task. To make the child a good human being with respect for culture and values is even harder. Some say motherhood or fatherhood can even put an end to your career.

Sniffing a huge opportunity in the child development space, many entrepreneurs in India have come up with different kinds of apps, such as angels-backed BabyBerry, Flipkart-backed parenting social network Tinystep, and SIDBI-funded mycity4kids.

Parentlane, another company which offers a social guide for parents that focused on child development, has roped in Rohit MA, Co-founder and Managing Director of Cloudnine Hospitals, as an investor.

Rohit invested through his personal investment arm Capier Investments.

Parentlane is a social platform to guide parents with personalised and trusted advice on the overall development of their child, from his/her birth till he turns eight years. The app provides a variety of relevant content on baby care and child development, parenting tips, activities for kids and food recipes. It also allows parents to easily record and securely share pictures or notes of their child development progress with a relevant group of people connected in their network and share their experience by creating posts covering all aspects of child development.

The platform leverages Data Science and Machine Learning extensively to map child development and thereby deliver personalised recommendation to the community engaging on the platform.

Parentlane was incubated at Accel Partners Launchpad in Bangalore.

Vijay Anand, CEO and Co-founder of Parentlane, said, “We are thrilled to partner with such a passionate leader like Rohit who truly understands the problems that a new parent goes through after the baby is born. We believe that his strategic inputs on helping new-age parents during early child development would be greatly valuable as we ramp up the offerings on the Parentlane app and evolve as the most trusted brand among parents during this life changing experience.”

Rohit believes that life in today’s times is extensively dependent on technology and when it comes to new parents, it becomes essential to keep a constant track of simple milestones to progressive development and the necessity of social collaboration for information dissemination. The Parentlane app comes in handy for new parents after the child is born and remains throughout the early child development lifecycle covering all aspects of growth and development, brain development activities for kids, food recipes and tips for parents during the journey.

Capier Investments has earlier invested in OfBusiness (B2B marketplace) and Saahas (waste management).
