New clue could lead police to killers behind Penang drive-by shooting

GEORGE TOWN: Police have obtained a new clue which may lead investigators to the killers behind the drive-by shooting of a businesswoman at Jalan Pekaka 1, here last month.

State deputy police chief Datuk Roslee Chik told newsmen that police would continue to probe the case, although there have been no arrests after more than a month into the investigations.

"However, we believe this latest clue might be helpful in identifying the gunmen.

"Our intelligence is still working on it, but at the moment, we have a clue and we are doing our best to zoom in on them.

"Apart from that, I could not comment further as the case is still under investigation," he said when met after officiating the 210th Police Memorial Day Celebration at the state police headquarters in Jalan Penang, here today.

Roslee said that the family members of the victim never received any prank calls or threats prior to the shooting incident.

It was reported that 49-year-old Ruby Lee Poh Ai was shot multiple times from close range by two men on a motorcycle at Jalan Pekaka 1 on February 21 earlier this year.

She was shot while heading home in her white BMW from her office about 5.45pm.

The case is being investigated under 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
