COE quota jumps to 12,060 for May to July of this year

There will be 12,060 Certificate of Entitlements (COEs) available between May and July of this year, according to the Land Transport Authority on Friday.
 
This is a big leap of 32 per cent from the COE quota for the previous three months (February to April), which was 9,127. Bidding under the new quota will start with the first bidding exercise next month.

COE quotas across all categories except for motorcycles have increased by at least 37 per cent.
 
The quota for cars of 1,600cc and below (Category A) is set to 3,034 as compared to 2,151 previously, and quota for cars above 1,600cc (Category B) is set to 2,897 as compared to 2,102 previously.
 
There will be 2,311 COEs for goods vehicles and buses (Category C) as compared to 1,571 earlier, and 2,059 COEs for vehicles in the open category (Category E) as compared to the 1,145 previously. The number of COEs in the open category sees the highest jump of 53.6 per cent.
 
The quota for motorcycles (Category D) has decreased by 4.6 per cent. From 2,158, it will be set to 2,059 in the next three months.
 
The next quota announcement for bidding period August to October will be made in July.
