There has been considerable conversation around Coldplay touring, as they'd previously vowed not to perform on a global scale unless they could do so in a sustainable way.

In a press announcement for the tour, the band tout that their shows will be powered by "100% renewable energy" and promise to cut tour emissions by at least 50% this time around.

Martin has though acknowledged to the BBC that the band are still planning to travel from gig to gig on private jets, and don't yet have a concrete plan on how to tour in a totally sustainable way.

"I don't mind any backlash at all," he responded. "We're trying our best, and we haven't got it perfect. Absolutely. We always have backlash for everything.

"And the people that give us backlash for that kind of thing, for flying, they're right. So we don't have any argument against that."
