Colts quarterback Luck still coming back from injury

Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, pictured in January 2017, had surgery on his throwing shoulder

Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck will start training camp on the physically unable to perform list, but the Colts expect him to be ready for the start of the NFL regular season. Luck had surgery on his throwing shoulder in January to address the effects of an injury he first suffered back in 2015. In May, head coach Chuck Pagano offered few details on Luck but described his recovery as positive and said Luck was "doing great." General manager Chris Ballard said Monday that Luck is not injured, but rather focused on building strength in the shoulder. "We're exactly where I thought we'd be at this time," Ballard said, adding that Luck was rebuilding strength in his arm and putting on weight he'd lost after the surgery. Even though Irsay and the Colts were aware of Luck's shoulder issues, he was signed last June to a six-year, $140 million contract that runs through the 2021 season.
