Manila, Philippines --- The local Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Tuesday night winners for the top four local positions in Marikina City in relation to last Monday's midterm polls.
They are re-electionists and Liberal Party bets Marcelino Teodoro (District 1), and Romero Federico Quimbo (District 2) for the congressional seats; re-electionist Del De Guzman for the mayoralty race, and re-electionist Dr. Jose Fabian Cadiz for the vice mayoralty race.
Teodoro is the only candidate for the congressional seat of the city's First District while Quimbo won over rival Albert Bocobo.
De Guzman, who is on his second term as local chief executive of the city, won over rivals Felipe Evangelista and Rizal Tenorio, while Cadiz won over former vice mayor Dr. Marion Andres.
In an interview shortly after his proclamation, De Guzman vowed to intensify the city government's war against crime, on disaster mitigation and response and providing more livelihood/jobs programs to Marikenos.
He also thanked the people for giving him a fresh mandate as mayor of the city.
Results for those who are running for seats in the City Council and in the Senate is expected to be disclosed Wednesday afternoon.
