SAN PABLO, LAGUNA - President benigno Aquino III on Thursday said that Liberal Party candidates also endorsed by the United Nationalist Alliance are expected to attend only sorties by the administration block.
Aquino said the requirment was to avoid public confusion with mixed messages.
“So ‘pag nagsalita tayo sa publiko, gusto natin may isang mensahe,” said Aquino.
Aquino added that as far as he was knew, the common candidates accept this. “I think, their actions speak for themselves,” he said.
However, Aquino maintained that the Liberal Party will not meddle with how UNA wants to run their campaign, especially regarding common candidates
Common candidates Francis Escudero, Loren Legarda, and Grace Poe attended the LP’s proclamation rally in Manila Tuesday, instead of the UNA’s in Cebu.
‘As long as he does his job
Meanwhile, responding to comments Vice President Jejomar Binay allegedly made in Cebu undermining the Aquino administration’s gains, President Aquino responded that he recognized Binay’s membership in a different political party may have contributed to that particular statement.
Sana imbes na bumatikos, ipakita nila paano ba nila babaguhin o hihigitan ‘yung nagawa na natin,” he said.
Binay said that despite news reports, not much economic growth has been felt so far during Aquino’s term.
Despite this difference in opinion on the country’s growth, Aquino said he has no problems with Binay.
“So long as the Vice President is doing his job as far as the housing sector is concerned, then I have no problems with him, and also the OFW sector. And in fairness to him, he has done his job lalo na sa OFW. — DVM, GMA News
