Company manager charged with threatening MACC officer with harm

SEREMBAN: A company manager pleaded not guilty at the sessions court here today to a charge of threatening a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer with bodily harm in June last year. Mohd Hazmi Abdul Halim, 34, is alleged to have disturbed, harassed and threatened an officer from the state’s MACC department using a steering wheel lock during a check conducted by the latter on Mohd Hazmi’s vehicle. The accused had allegedly committed the offence at a parking lot at Sekolah Sri Seremban here at 12.15pm on June 3, 2016. Mohd Hazmi was charged under Section 48 (h) of the MACC Act 2009 which is punishable under Section 69 of the same Act which carries a jail term of not more than two years, or a fine of not more than RM10,000, or both. Judge Junaidah Mohd Isa allowed bail of RM5,000 with one surety and set Sept 25 for remention and submission of documents. MACC prosecuting officer Karmila Mokhtar prosecuted, while the accused was represented by Jamal Abas.
