Conor Gallagher has laughed off comparisons with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

The Crystal Palace midfielder, who is on loan in south London from the Blues, was compared to the former Chelsea midfielder and manager by Eagles boss, Patrick Vieira.

Vieira cited Gallagher’s ability to score goals and time his arrival into the box perfectly - talents that were on full show with his goal against rival Brighton on Friday night.

Gallagher, however, is not thinking of the comparison.

"Let’s be serious... Frank Lampard, I can’t be compared to someone like that," Gallagher told Sky Sports.

"I couldn’t be happier when it went in. I was just trying to get contact on it! I did try and get it in the corner, I didn’t even look up I don’t think."

The 21-year-old has been a sensation on loan at Selhurst Park this term and is proving one of the signings of the season.

Gallagher has six goals and four assists in 19 Palace appearances in all competitions and has also earned his first call up to the England squad.

Despite all the hype around his performances, Gallagher is not getting caught up in dreams of returning to Chelsea and starring under Thomas Tuchel.

"We know that Chelsea is one of the best teams in the world right now, it is a tough team to get into," said Gallagher.

"I’m not really thinking about that at the moment, I’ll try and do my best for Crystal Palace.

"The way football is goals and assists gets you praise like I have been getting. I need to continue to perform, not just goals and assists but I am happy with the way it is going so far."
