KUALA LUMPUR: Three men, including a police constable, who had targeted unlicensed entertainment outlets and cyber cafe as their locations to rob, were nabbed by police three days ago. They were caught by the motorcycle patrol unit (URB) after they behaved suspiciously in a Honda Civic car at Jalan Perak around 4am on June 11. Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharudin Abdullah said the suspects began to accelerate their vehicle before it crashed after a 200 meter chase. “A few laptops, video games, equipment used for robbery, knives and a jacket with police emblem were found in the car which was used by the suspects aged 20 to 35. “One of the suspects is a police constable while another was a former auxiliary police,” he said at a press conference at the Dang Wangi police headquarters. Shaharuddin said the suspects admitted they robbed entertainment outlets and cyber café around Serdang, Selangor. “Based on the statements, we believe that the suspects were also actively involved in robbery around Klang Valley over the past two months,” he said. Shahruddin also called on owners of the centres involved in the robbery to make a police report and also to identify the place for further investigations. He added that results of the urine test also revealed that one of the suspects was positive for drug usage. “All the suspects have been remanded for four days beginning May 11, before being referred to the police in the areas where they had robbed. “The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosives and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958,” he said.
