Cops bar Dr M from speaking at 1MDB forum

Police stopped Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from speaking at the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) forum held at the Putra World Trade Centre today. He was 10 minutes into his speech when a group of uniformed policemen went up to the stage and stopped him from speaking. Dr Mahathir attempted to negotiate with the officers and was overheard saying that he was invited and thought that he could speak. But the policemen switched off the microphone and turned off the video. The situation then turned chaotic and the audience, which was more than 1,000 people, began shouting at the police. Some of them even went up to the stage. He was allowed to speak to reporters and after the press conference was escorted by a large number of policemen to his car to loud shouts of Hidup Tun!
