Cops nab lorry driver in Puchong abduction case

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a lorry driver today to assist investigations into the abduction of a 21-year-old man in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, two days ago.

Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohammad Aminudin Megat Alias said acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed the 27-year-old man at Taman Bukit Rawang Jaya in Rawang at 1.30am today.

“We have recorded a statement where the suspect admitted to be involved in the case. He is the driver of a Proton Waja used to pick up the victim. We are still tracking down nine other individuals,” he said in a statement.

Megat said the motive of the attack was still being investigated but initial checks showed it could be a misunderstanding involving a woman.

On Friday, a group of 10 men in two cars - a Proton Waja and a Perodua MyVi - arrived at the victim’s house at about 3am.

They then attacked the victim before forcing him into one of the cars and sped off.

The victim however managed to escape three hours later near Sungai Way in Petaling Jaya when the group took him out of the car to rough him up.
