KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 ― A transgender woman identified as “Alia” has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing a Grabcar driver whom she slept previously.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Hamzah Alias said the driver claimed he was told to pay RM1,000 or the suspect would spread a video of their sex act surreptitiously filmed at a rented house in Jalan Bukit Permai, Cheras.

“The 28-year-old suspect has been detained and police is investigating the case,” Hamzah was reported by national news agency Bernama as saying in a statement today.

According to the report, Alia and the Grabcar driver met at the San Peng Flats in Jalan Pudu on Wednesday and had agreed to have sex.

The driver was threatened the same day and filed a police complaint after refusing to pay.

Alia is under police remand for four days starting yesterday pending investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, punishable by jail up to two years, a fine, or both if convicted.
