Coronation Street has revealed a first look at the moment that Daniel Osbourne makes a move on Bethany Platt next week.

The chemistry between the friends is revisited as Daniel struggles to cope with his baby son Bertie being diagnosed with measles.

Next week's episodes see Daniel face a backlash on the cobbles, as Bertie wasn't given his full set of vaccinations a few weeks ago. Daniel pulled him out of the medical centre after he cried over his first jab.

Maria Connor, who has been in contact with Bertie, also contracts measles and tragically suffers a miscarriage.

While some on the cobbles are hostile towards Daniel, Bethany continues to loyally support him as a friend. However, it's only a matter of time before their relationship develops further.

When Bethany's clothes get wet, Daniel tells her to put them in the dryer at his flat and use Sinead's dressing gown in the meantime.

Later, Daniel wakes from a nap and confuses Bethany for Sinead. Kissing her tenderly, he asks her to stay – but will Bethany agree?

Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, explained: "Daniel has just woken up again, so he is a little bit out of it and he has probably been dreaming about Sinead.

"Bethany is wearing Sinead's dressing gown and he is shocked. He thinks he sees Sinead and it's too good to be true. He thinks: 'Has her death and the aftermath just been a dream?'

"But then reality hits. Daniel knows he is kissing Bethany, but he is allowing his mind to trick himself and have these moments."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, January 31 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
