Coronation Street's Gemma Winter-Brown struggles in Henry Newton story

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Gemma Winter-Brown will struggle as she gets a new job working with former flame Henry Newton in Coronation Street.

Henry has recently reappeared on the cobbles with his father Phillipas potential buyers for the Rovers Return. While it appears they won't actually end up buying the pub, Henry does offer an olive branch to former partner Gemma by offering her a job as a PA.

In scenes airing next week, Chesney does his best to stifle doubts about Gemma working with her ex-boyfriend and encourages her for her first week on the job.

Chesney event gives Gemma a thoughtful gift before she gets off to work: a furry notebook and matching pen. She soon heads off for her first day of work with Henry.

Gemma arrives just in time for the Newton & Ridley board meeting, where Henry's father Phillip makes it exceedingly clear that he disapproves of her working for Henry.

Henry is sensitive to Gemma's plight, assuring her that he'll watch her back on the job to ensure she doesn't run into trouble.

After a very busy first day, Gemma turns up at the Rovers to unwind. Gemma confesses to Jenny Connor and Daisy Midgeley that the job might be more than she bargained for.

Returning cast member George Banks has previously promised that Coronation Street viewers will see "a bit of a different Henry" in this stint.

"Before he was a bit younger, he was quite carefree and didn't really have a lot of responsibility in his life," George explained. "He didn't necessarily think too much about other people. But I feel despite his faults, he always had a good heart but he was a bit entitled and he was selfish in some respects.

"When he left last time he was beaten up by some folks and they broke some bones, he probably had time to reflect on some of his choices," he added.

"I think the thing now is that he knows deep down that he's a good person and he doesn't want to be the person he was."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
