A lottery featuring a new flat worth HK$10.8 million for vaccinated Hong Kong residents will open on June 15, organisers have revealed, as more businesses offer incentives for getting the jabs.

Permanent identity card holders who are aged 18 and above and have had both doses of their Covid-19 vaccine in the city can register for the lucky draw online with their identity card and mobile numbers from 9am that day. Applications will close at 5.30pm on September 1.

Announcing the details on Wednesday, organisers said the results would be announced on September 8.

“Any Hong Kong stamp duty, registration fees and solicitors’ fees involved for the winner to receive the grand prize, and the first-year management fees in respect of the grand prize, will be solely and fully borne by the sponsors,” they said.

Aimed at drumming up support for the city’s sluggish inoculation drive, the lucky draw – jointly sponsored by Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation Limited, the philanthropic arm of Sino Group, and Chinese Estates Holdings Limited – stole the spotlight last Friday when it was first announced, with vaccine bookings surging immediately.

The offer of the one-bedroom flat measuring 449 sq ft at the Grand Central project in Kwun Tong was the most generous vaccination incentive dangled by the business sector so far, and both officials and experts have welcomed the efforts.

Twenty cash prizes of HK$100,000 each are also up for grabs, and these will not be restricted to permanent residents, with anyone holding a valid Hong Kong ID card, including those on employment visas, will be eligible. But participants of the scheme must be 18 or older on or before September 1.

The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, a major business chamber in the city, also rolled out benefits worth more than HK$5 million on Wednesday to boost the vaccination rates and stimulate consumption at small and medium-sized businesses.

The association plans to organise two rounds of lotteries for those who have been fully vaccinated, with prepaid cards valued at HK$1 million each among the top prizes.

In addition, residents who have been given their first jab can enjoy discounts at various businesses, including Sa Sa International Holdings and New World Group from mid-June under the scheme.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Association of Banks said its members would contribute to a similar lottery and winners could take home HK$100,000 spending credit or shopping vouchers.

Pub giant Bar Pacific Group Holdings promised to give out HK$6 million worth of gifts including free drinks in another lucky draw for those who were vaccinated.
