KUANTAN: The Pahang Football Association (PFA) has lodged a police report over sales of counterfeit tickets for the FA Cup quarter-final first leg match between Pahang and Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) at the Darulmakmur Stadium here tonight.
One football fan had unwittingly purchased the counterfeit tickets. It was only after buying the match tickets, had the fan noticed the tickets looked different from the ones usually sold by the association.
PFA on its official Facebook page said after screening the ticket, had noted that they were fake and immediately lodged a police report.
“PFA has increased security at all entry points into the stadium and will utilise ticket scanning devices to check tickets bought for the match.
“Those possessing fake tickets will be immediately arrested and handed to the police for investigations. We will never compromise such actions,” read the statement.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Salleh confirmed that PFA had lodged a report today.
A PFA source said the fake tickets looked exactly like the original tickets but their staffs are able to spot the minute differences in that there is an embossed marking on the original ticket.
PFA is now looking into the matter and conducting investigations to see if the fan had purchased the tickets from the association or ticket touts.
