COVID-19: 38 local infections among 49 new cases, 9 new cases at Learning Point cluster
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed the detection of 49 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore as of noon on Sunday (16 May), taking the country's total case count to 61,585.
Of the new cases, 38 are local transmissions, with 21 linked to previous cases and 17 are unlinked, said MOH in a news release. Of the local transmissions, 13 had already been placed on quarantine earlier.
Additionally, there are 11 imported cases, all of whom have been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon their arrival in Singapore. Of these cases, five are returning Singaporeans or permanent residents.
There were no new COVID-19 cases detected at Singapore's migrant worker dormitories.
There are currently 15 active infection clusters.

An 18 year-old male Singaporean student at Singapore Polytechnic, and works part-time at Star Arts located at Westgate
A 29 year-old female Philippines national who works as a nurse at Raffles Hospital
A 28 year-old male Malaysia national who works at Sheng Siong located at 440 Bukit Batok West Avenue 8
A 55 year-old male Singaporean who works as a warehouse assistant at Jin Tai Mart
A 54 year-old female Malaysia national who works at Sms Infocomm (Singapore) Pte Ltd (preliminary confirmation of B.1.617 variant)
A 55 year-old male Singaporean who works as a driver at KEN Express Services Pte Ltd (preliminary confirmation of B.1.617 variant)
A 52 year-old male permanent resident who is employed by Certis Cisco Security as an auxiliary police officer at Bank of China located at Westgate (preliminary confirmation of B.1.617 variant)
A 40 year-old male Singaporean who is an accountant at 3R Corporation Pte Ltd, and works from home
A 57 year-old female Malaysia national who is currently unemployed (preliminary confirmation of B.1.617 variant)

New cluster at Wok Hey (White Sands): 3 cases in total
A new cluster has been identified at Wok Hey (White Sands). It comprises a 26 year-old female Singaporean, and two other individuals of whom she is a family member and household contact. The former had already been quarantined.
New cluster at Changi Prison Complex: 4 cases in total
A new cluster has been identified at Changi Prison Complex. The new cases, who had already been quarantined, are:
A 35 year-old male China national who works as a cargo driver at SATS Food Pte Ltd and had already been quarantined
A 22 year-old male Vietnam national who is currently unemployed
Changi Airport Terminal 3 cluster: 6 new cases, 74 in total
The new cases identified in this cluster had already been quarantined. They are:
A 1 year-old male Singaporean who had already been quarantined
A 37 year-old male Philippines national who works as a sales representative at JR Life Sciences (preliminary confirmation of B.1.617 variant)
Case 63316 is a 39 year-old male Philippines national who works as a nurse at Ren Ci Nursing Home in Ang Mo Kio (received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on 27 January)
A 36 year-old male permanent resident who works as a stall assistant at Kopitiam at Terminal 3
A 66 year-old female Singaporean who is employed by Certis Cisco as an aviation security officer at Terminal 3 (fully vaccinated)
A 26 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a sales associate at a retail store at Terminal 3
Learning Point cluster: 9 new cases, 18 in total
The new cases identified in this cluster had already been quarantined. They are:

A 42 year-old male Singaporean who works at the Land Transport Authority
A 41 year-old female Singaporean who works at Arcadis Pte Ltd
A 37 year-old male Singaporean who works at Schenker Global Management
A 55 year-old male Singaporean who works as a social worker at Care Corner Family Service Centre (received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on 20 April)

Imported cases
Among the 11 imported cases:
Five are permanent residents who returned from India
Five are work permit holders who arrived from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, of whom four are foreign domestic workers.
One is a special pass holder who is a sea crew who arrived from the UAE on a vessel
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 39 in the week before to 131 in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 6 in the week before to 32 cases in the past week.
Amongst the 226 confirmed cases reported from 10 May to 16 May, 73 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 115 have tested negative, and 38 serology test results are pending.
Another 42 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 61,104, or 99.2 per cent of cases, have fully recovered and been discharged.
Some 207 confirmed cases are still in hospital. Most are stable or improving, and two are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 243 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
A total of 31 people have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
