SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed the detection of seven new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore as of noon on Sunday (13 December), taking the country’s total to 58,320.

These are all imported cases, all of whom have been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) since their arrival in Singapore, said the ministry in a news release. There are no new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection.

Among the seven cases, one (Case 58547) is a Singapore permanent resident who returned from India. Five are currently employed in Singapore. Of these, one (Case 58541) is a work pass holder who arrived from India and four (Cases 58542, 58543, 58544 and 58545) are work permit holders who arrived from the Philippines, Indonesia and India. The remaining case (Case 58540) is a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from Indonesia. They were tested while serving SHN.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained low, the MOH said, with no new cases in the past week.

99% of total cases have recovered

With 11 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Sunday, 58,208 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 21 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, and none are in the intensive care unit.

A total of 62 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from 29 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
