COVID-19: Infected SMRT staff last worked at Bishan MRT on 15 May, premises disinfected

SINGAPORE – An SMRT service ambassador from the Circle Line (CCL) who tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday (17 May) was last at work at Bishan MRT station on 15 May.

In a statement, SMRT said, “On 17 May, she felt unwell, went to see a doctor and was referred to the hospital for a swab test. She is currently warded and is in a stable condition.”

She is one of two Singaporean cases announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Monday – Case 28271, a 58-year-old Singaporean woman who is currently classified as “local unlinked”.

SMRT added that “the premises that she had been in contact with have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected”. “This is in addition to the increased cleaning frequencies of all high touch points in our premises, facilities and vehicles since late January.” SMRT is assisting MOH with contact tracing.

There were 305 new COVID-19 cases announced in Singapore on Monday, of which 303 are foreign workers living in dormitories.

As of noon on Monday, the total number of COVID-19 cases stands at 28,343.
