COVID-19: Singapore detects 9 new cases, all imported
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed the detection of nine new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore as of noon on Monday (15 February), taking the country's total case count to 59,809.
All the new cases are imported and were placed on Stay-Home Notice upon their arrival in Singapore. There are no new cases of locally transmitted infections.
Details of imported cases
Among the nine imported cases:
Case 60250 is a Singapore permanent resident who returned from India.
Case 60244 is a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from the UAE.
Case 60252 is a work pass holder who arrived from the UAE.
Two are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh and Indonesia, of whom one (Case 60255) is a foreign domestic worker.
Cases 60246, 60247, 60248 and 60251 are short-term visit pass holders. Cases 60246, 60247 and 60251 arrived from India and Nigeria to visit family members who are Singaporeans or Singapore permanent residents. Case 60248 arrived from Indonesia for a job placement.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from four cases in the week before to five cases in the past week, the ministry said. The number of unlinked cases in the community has decreased from four cases in the week before to two cases in the past week.
99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU
With 20 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Monday, 59,641 cases – or 99.6 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 36 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, and one in the intensive care unit.
A total of 103 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from 29 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
