SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of Saturday (31 October) noon, taking the country’s total case count to 58,015.

All the new cases are imported and all except one are asymptomatic.

Of them, two are Singaporeans who returned from Indonesia and US, and one is a Singapore permanent resident who returned from Indonesia.

Another case is a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from Greece, who is a contact of a previously announced case. The remaining eight cases are work permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Indonesia and the Philippines. They had all been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving SHN.

As there have been no more cases linked to the cluster at Kian Teck Dormitory at 26 Kian Teck Avenue for the past two incubation periods, or 28 days, the cluster has now been closed.

There were no new places added on Saturday to the list of public places visited by COVID-19 cases while infectious in the community.

99% of total cases have recovered; none in ICU

With four more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Saturday, 57,913 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 42 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while none is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 32 patients with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from 28 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
