SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 12 new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore on Saturday (27 February), taking the country's total case count to 59,925.

There are no new cases of locally-transmitted infection.

The 12 imported cases had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. All of the cases except one were asymptomatic.

Amongst them, two are Singaporeans who returned from the UAE and US, two are dependant’s pass holders who arrived from India and Myanmar, three are work pass holders who arrived from Brazil, India and the Netherlands, and five are work permit holders who arrived from India, Indonesia and Malaysia, of whom four are foreign domestic workers.

The MOH also reported that a 64-year-old Singaporean man who had been living in Indonesia for almost a year, died on Friday due to COVID-19 infection. The man had been residing in Indonesia from 17 March 2020, and had a past history of hyperlipidaemia.

"As he was already an overseas registered case, he was not included in Singapore’s COVID-19 case count," the MOH said.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from one case in the week before to four cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from one case in the week before to two cases in the past week.

99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU

With 13 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Saturday, 59,816 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 15 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, with one of them in the intensive care unit.

A total of 65 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from 29 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications,15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.

Amongst the 67 confirmed cases reported from 21 to 27 February, 31 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 21 have tested negative, and 15 serology test results are pending.
