SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed seven new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of Wednesday (4 November), taking the country’s total to 58,036.

Of them, five are imported. “All new cases today are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance,” said the MOH.

The remaining two reside in foreign worker dormitories and were detected through surveillance testing

Among the imported cases, one is a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from the United Arab Emirates. The remaining four cases are currently employed in Singapore – one is a work pass holder who arrived from Switzerland, while three are work permit holders who arrived from Indonesia and Myanmar.

All five imported cases had been placed on the stay-home notice upon their arrival here and were tested while serving the notice.

The MOH noted that the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with a total of one case in the past week, who is currently unlinked.

99% of total cases have recovered; none in ICU

With one more patient discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Wednesday, 57,938 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 44 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while none is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 26 patients with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from 28 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
