COVID: Singapore reports 14 new community cases among 21 total

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Saturday (19 June) confirmed 21 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 62,403.

Among the new cases are 14 new community cases, with 10 linked to previous cases. Out of these, seven have already been placed on quarantine.

The remaining four community cases are currently unlinked.

There are seven imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore. All of them are returning Singaporeans or Singapore permanent residents.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 32 in the week before to 109 in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 14 in the week before to 18 in the past week.

Amongst the 140 confirmed cases reported from 13-19 June, 48 have tested positive for their serology tests, 82 have tested negative, and 10 results are pending.

There are currently 41 active infection clusters, with the 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre cluster the largest at 70 cases.

Unlinked community cases

Four unlinked community cases were detected through surveillance:

  • A 46 year-old female Singaporean homemaker who was fully vaccinated on 1 May

  • An 86 year-old female Singaporean retiree

  • A 44 year-old female Indonesian who is a foreign domestic worker

  • A 31 year-old female Vietnam national who works as a pastry maker at Bakery Point (920 Tiong Bahru Road)

115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre cluster

Two new cases in the cluster had already been quarantined:

  • A 42 year-old female Singaporean who works as a technical executive at Nanyang Polytechnic and received her second dose of the COVID vaccine on 26 April

  • A 45 year-old female permanent resident who is an operations staff member at Paxxus Pte Ltd

Three more were detected through surveillance:

  • An 81 year-old male Singaporean retiree

  • A 41 year-old female Indonesian who is a foreign domestic worker

  • A 35 year-old female Singaporean who works at J. Roger Preston Ltd

Tektronix cluster

One new case, a 14 year-old male Singaporean who is a student at Canberra Secondary School, had already been quarantined.

Case 642638 cluster

Three new cases had already been quarantined:

  • A 66 year-old male Singaporean retiree

  • An 89 year-old female Singaporean retiree

  • A 64 year-old female Singaporean who works at Hong Leong Finance (16 Raffles Quay)

Case 64264 cluster

One new case, a 30 year-old female Indonesian who is a foreign domestic worker, had already been quarantined.

Imported cases

Amongst the seven imported cases, three are Singaporeans and four are permanent residents who returned from India, Thailand and the UAE. They had all already been placed on SHN upon arrival in Singapore.

In addition, 36 more COVID cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 62,023, or 99.3 per cent of all cases, have fully recovered and been discharged.

There are currently 153 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Some 193 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
