COVID: Singapore reports 332 new cases, 185 of them unlinked
SINGAPORE —The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday (7 September) confirmed 332 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 69,233.
Of them, 328 are locally transmitted, including 185 unlinked infections. MOH said, "91 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. 52 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance."
Among the cases are four patients above the age of 70 who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and are at risk of serious illness, said the MOH.
Four cases are imported, of whom two were detected upon their arrival here while two developed the illness during their stay-home notice or isolation period.
There are currently 53 active COVID clusters. Madrasah Irsyad Zuhri Al-Islamiah was the sole new cluster confirmed on Tuesday with six new cases, bringing its total to eight.
The biggest number of new cases among the active clusters was 20 at the 30 Sunview Way construction site, bringing its total to 26 cases.
Among the bus interchange staff clusters, 13 new cases were added to the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange staff cluster (total 174), followed by six at the Boon Lay Bus Interchange staff cluster (total 136), three at the Clementi Bus Interchange staff (total 47), three at the Jurong East Bus Interchange staff (total 42), and three at the Tampines Bus Interchange staff cluster (total 41).
There were no new cases added to the Punggol Bus Interchange staff cluster (total 37), the Bishan Bus Interchange staff (total 32), and the Sengkang Bus Interchange staff cluster (total 28).
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 771 cases in the week before to 1,489 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 184 cases in the week before to 677 cases in the past week. The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 116.0 and 96.7 respectively.
Apart from the 55 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
There are currently 643 cases warded in hospital. In addition, there are 24 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and six in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Of those who have fallen very ill, 22 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 14 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
Over the last 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated who became severely ill or died is 6.1 per cent, while that for the fully vaccinated is 0.8 per cent.
As of Monday, about 8.80 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme. Some 4.54 million have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with some 4.39 million having completed the full vaccination regimen.
Separately, 171,961 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of Monday, covering 86,204 individuals.
As of Monday, 81 per cent of the population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 83 per cent has received at least one dose.
