Cre8colony: Academic meets creativity in collaborative learning workspace

GEORGE TOWN: Those who just completed their Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or diploma and had their sights on multimedia and event management studies, now have reason to rejoice, with the launch of Cre8colony.

In a first ever collaboration with renowned Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS), Cre8colony is offering a one year professional certification course in Multimedia Technology and Design as well as Facilities and Events Managements.

These courses are said to be in high demand in Penang.

Director and co-founder Angelina Cheong said that Cre8colony, offers a first-of-its-kind academic training centre with collaborative creative workspace that connects aspiring talents together.

"The industry has taken the initiative to step up to the plate and establish a platform to nurture and grow a creative community.

"We are preparing and training our students for the industry, by making them participate in projects offered by the industry itself," Cheong said yesterday.

The classes at the facility located at Lorong Macalister here, can hold up to 50 students per course.

20 of those students will be offered half scholarship of the total cost RM30,000 for the two semester course.

Scholarship applicants will be screened through an additional interview process.

Interested working adults are also encouraged to enrol in the courses as it offers both traditional classrooms, as well as online learning options through Cre8colony website.

Prospective students are urged to complete their application before the end of May for the July intake. The subsequent intake will be in January 2018.

Students, upon completing the one year course also have an option continue for another more years, to obtain a degree from SUSS.

Cre8colony are also planning to offer Social Media and Digital Marketing courses are in near future, according to Cheong.
