Crews Work to Save Homes and Vineyards From Glass Fire

The Alameda County Fire Department has shared footage from its teams fighting the Glass Fire, which has been raging in California’s Napa and Sonoma counties since Sunday, September 27.

The footage, shared on September 30, shows several clips of firefighters tackling flames and driving through extreme conditions in Napa County.

The fire department said on Twitter it had been fighting fires in the Calistoga and St Helena areas for 72 hours.

By late September 30, the Glass Fire had burned more than 50,000 acres and was 2 percent contained, authorities said.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that an hour away, air quality in the Bay Area was “deteriorating significantly” and expected to worsen. Credit: Alameda County Fire via Storyful
