Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Tan Chye Hee assumes command of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as Director CID with effect from Wednesday 19 Nov.

The 41-year-old replaces Deputy Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck, 51, who took the helm as Director CID in 2011, said a statement on the Singapore Police Force website.

Tan has held various key positions such as Director Planning & Organisation Department, Deputy Director CID and Commander Ang Mo Kio Police Division.

"I am honoured to be appointed as Director CID and to be given the opportunity to work with the men and women of CID to keep Singapore safe. Investigation is an integral part of policing and I certainly hope to build on the excellent work done by Mr Hoong Wee Teck. With my previous background as Director PID, I aim to synergise the two key areas of investigation and intelligence. This would make SPF a formidable force in crime fighting,” said Tan.
