Like your skin, knowing how to best manage your hair is an individual journey. What’s right for one won’t be for another.
With that in mind, we asked Robin Sjoblom, owner of Southern Curl in Atlanta, for her guide to handling textured hair.
Known for her “Rock Your Blessing” mantra, Robin, who has been working with natural haircare brand Innersense, was happy to share her three top tips.
Begin with a clean slate
“Set curls up for success with clean hair care,” Robin smiled. “Products that contain harsh chemicals, silicones and waxes cause build-up and dull, limp curls. Clean hair care promotes a healthy scalp and shiny, bouncy curls.”
Stay away from heat
“Hot curls are never happy!” she exclaimed to us. Leave your hair to dry naturally and do its own thing.
Textured hair responds to seasons
Robin warns that what works for the spring and summer may not work for fall and winter.
She added: “Never toss your products, just use them in a new way or save for the next season. Try different combos and styling techniques to create a new look. Raking, smoothing, ‘prayer hands’ and roping all create different results. Be inventive and rock your blessings!”
