Let me start off by saying that I am, very obviously, not a doctor, and absolutely nothing I say here counts as medical advice. Got it? Okay, let's move on.

My allergies have been kicking my ass recently. I'm on a steady flow of Zyrtec, I flush my sinuses out with saline every morning, and I have a humidifier going 24/7. But it's not just any ol' humidifier, it's the Canopy, which I love for a lot of reasons.

It's easy to clean and prevents mold

First off, cleaning humidifiers is a process, and one I am patently not a fan of. I hate mold more than that, though, so the fact that the Canopy is designed to run continuously until it's completely dry and mold can't grow, is a beautiful thing. You can also clean the parts (of which there are few) in the dishwasher. [Editor's Note: If you're as paranoid about mold as I am, I suggest also picking up a hygrometer (like this $10 one from Amazon) to ensure you aren't accidentally over-humidifying your space.]

There's no visible mist

At first, the fact that there's no mist or steam you can see is a little confusing, and you sit there like "Uh, is this shit working?" but that shit is, in fact, working. It's just hydrated, filtered air that has passed through both UV light and a filter. I love science.

Adding essential oils is easy

I'm not about to try and sell you on MLM essential oils, so let's get that straight. Canopy's aroma "puck,' which fits neatly in a little divot above the fan, makes it so you can just add a couple drops of scented oil depending on your mood, without having to go anywhere near the tank or water itself. I love a sweet fragrance, and like the Canopy x TSC aroma kits, but you can use whatever oils you like.

It's aesthetically pleasing

Colors range from lavender to a pastel jade. We love options! Also, the simple, clean design doesn't look out of place with any other decor.

The paper filter is easy to replace

If you sign up for one of the filter subscription packages, Canopy will send you a replacement every 45 days, so you don't even really have to think about it.

The tank is pretty big and lasts a while

A solid 2.5 liters of tank space means that if you keep the humidifier on auto, it should last about 36 hours before you need to refill. I keep mine on full blast and I only have to refill it once a day at most.

It has skin-care benefits

The hydrated air helps dry, cracked skin become less parched, and it's certainly been helping with my scratchy, irritated throat as well. Fun fact: A lot of skin-care products (particularly those containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid) work by drawing water into skin. Where do they find said water? The air. I've definitely noticed that my skin isn't as dry as it usually is this time of year, without having made any changes to my moisturizing routine. The brand also claims that it can help maintain a healthier skin barrier and increase the effectiveness of topical skin-care products.

So, yeah. I never expected to love a humidifier, but here we are. Happy hydrating!
