Dartford bridge reopens after 'serious incident'

The Dartford Crossing bridge over the Thames has reopened after a "serious incident".

Essex Police were called to the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at Thurrock at 09:00 BST following concerns for the welfare of a man.

All emergency services were called to the bridge, which carries clockwise M25 traffic from Essex to Kent.

National Highways posted on social media to say traffic was moving again, but there would be 90-minute delays caused by eight miles of congestion.

A National Highways spokesperson added: "Please allow plenty of time for delays to clear."
