A young woman’s tweets are lighting up social media, thanks to an epic love story and some very honest text messages from her dad.

Sydney recently posted a tweet about an essay she was writing about her parents, who have been married for 27 years. She texted her dad, asking him to tell her about his relationship with her mom. His response moved Sydney to tears.

Sydney’s dad started off by telling her how it all began, and then he revealed that it was actually her mom who ended up proposing to him.

“Your mom basically asked me to marry her,” he told Sydney in a text message.

“We both thought it would be funny to tell our friends since no one would believe it. So at first, our engagement was a joke.”

But that joke turned serious pretty quickly.

“Two weeks later, I was absolutely madly in love with your mom. She was more than a dream come true for me. You guys only get to see her as R2D2. I get to see her as my best friend, my hilarious wife, and my beautiful queen when we get a chance to be away from here and work.”

Aww.

Of course like any marriage, the couple’s relationship has had its ups and downs. After having two children, Sydney’s mom wanted more kids, but her dad wasn’t convinced. To make matters worse, opposite work schedules meant they barely got to see one another. In the end, it was Sydney (their third child) who brought them back together.

“Didn’t know it at the time, but you changed our lives. It allowed us to focus on each other and also our ‘finally complete family’ to gel.”

Then Sydney’s dad really brought on the waterworks, going so far as to one up Jerry Maguire’s famous “You complete me” speech.

“She doesn’t just ‘complete me’ — she came into my life when I was young and immature. She completed me and then made me so much of a better person. I dated and married an angel.”

Excuse me, but I think there’s something in my eye — and apparently I’m not the only one. Sydney’s tweet has been viewed more than a million times, and the majority of the responses state something along the lines of, “You made me cry.”

So go ahead and reach for some tissues because this isn’t your average love story. After all, he met an angel.
