Davao City LGU warns against illegal trekking on Mount Apo

MANILA — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio reminds mountaineers and tour operators to refrain from entering Mount Apo.

She claims to have gathered evidence that some are illegally hiking on the said mountain.

Mayor Duterte-Carpio warns of penalties against those found violating the said policy.

Mt. Talomo, the mountain range that includes Mount Apo, is a protected area because of its ecological value.

It also serves as the recharge area of Talomo-Lipadas watershed and home to thousands of eagles.

The mayor has also ordered the creation of an eco-tourism and cultural plan that would prohibit any activities that may damage the environment of the province. — UNTV News & Rescue
