David Schwimmer says live audience for 'Friends' special is 'really tricky' in reunion update
David Schwimmer has said the upcoming Friends reunion will be “tricky” due to the logistics of bringing in a live studio audience amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Ross Geller actor's update comes after filming was postponed on the unscripted special due to the coronavirus.
He told ET Online: "I can tell you that we are hoping to shoot [the reunion] in August, in mid-August, but honestly, we will do it when it’s safe."

"There has always been a hope that a component of that reunion show will have a live audience, which makes the whole thing really tricky. We are obviously not going to risk anyone’s health by doing this," the 53-year-old went on.
The special was originally slated to air on HBO Max at the end of May, however, shooting wasn't able to take place because of the pandemic.
WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer chairman Bob Greenblatt told Variety back in May that there was "value" to have the reunion take place with a "big, raucous live audience".
"We didn’t want to just suddenly do it on a web call with, you know, six squares and people shooting from their kitchens and bedrooms,” he shared.
All six main cast members including Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry shared almost identical posts to their Instagram pages when they announced the long-anticipated reunion back in February.

Aniston and Kudrow recently enjoyed a mini-reunion over video call as they reminisced on their time spent on the show for Variety.
Both reflected on how spending 10 years on the popular sitcom had left them with "commitment issues" when it came to other projects.
